In the forty-minute interview with Rowe he made excellent points that stood out and I found some key valuable points that others and I could really use in life. Rowe's statement in the beginning of the interview about there being a million unemployed people out there and a million with no degree really had me invested and interested to hear the rest of the interview.
The first ten minutes of the interview Rowe talked a lot about how parents and teachers are pushing and making it such a huge deal about going to a university to further ourselves to get a degree. We hear that so often everyday, how if we don't go get a degree that we will no be able to provide/make it in life. Little do they forget to inform us how much a college degree is and how we're a "trillion dollars in debt" Rowe points out. Also Rowe stated how "the cost of a college degree has gone up to 500 times since the 80's." It is capable to make it, a boy in Butler has a job that pays $100/hour and has the money to pay rent and provide for his family. Stories like that are what we don't hear but should. So like Rowe asked the guy giving the interview, "is it better to have 140,000 in debt but a degree from Georgetown Law or is it better to be like the kid from Butler?"
Rowe explains how education is prioritized at the top along where it should be because it's majorly important. However along at the top is health and fitness, that being said because we need to be able to be capable of furthering our education. Rowe makes a gym membership and education reference, do we need the most expensive high up membership or one that is much cheaper but can still provide to perform the ultimate goal. What I took out of that statement was do we need to go to the four year super fancy, expensive college to get yeah the education but we can also do a much cheaper way if at all college and still get our ultimate college if we really put our mind to it.
Towards the middle of the interview, Rowe mentions how we all just think to follow our passions but sometimes our passion is not what we end up doing. We put up our passion so high and think anything else that couldn't be wrong but it can be. I completely agree with that, we don't know where we will end up and what we will end up doing right away.
